Planer-Thicknesser
A 941 / AD 941 / AD 951
9.5 Thickness planing - Authorised and prohibited work techniques
9.5.1 Work piece dimensions
Note: Workpieces that already have a planed surface can be made thinner by being thicknessed. The work-
pieces are guided through the planer. The workpiece lies with its planed surface on the thicknessing table, and
only the upper side is machined.
It is absolutely forbidden to perform the following working technique on the thicknessing unit:
• Thicknessing several workpieces of varying thicknesses (depending on the equipment).
• Down-cut planing (the direction of the cutterblock rotation is the same as the feed direction).
• Insertion cuts (the workpiece is not worked over its entire length).
Attention! Risk of material damage!
When working on 2 workpieces simultaneously, their thickness may not differ by more than 1 mm.
Width
max. 404 / 504 mm (depending on the equipment)
Thickness
min. 4 mm / max. 254 mm
Note:
Precise parallel thicknesses can only be obtained if the workpiece was exactly surface-planed beforehand to
ensure that it can lie flat on the thicknesser table.
Only the following working technique is permitted on the thicknessing unit:
Infeed roller - standard:
• A maximum of 2 workpieces can be thickness-planed simultaneously.
Infeed roller - rubber or segmented:
• Thicknessing several workpieces simultaneously.
Warning! Risk of injury! If a workpiece is smaller than 10 mm, it may split if the depth of cut is too large
(4 mm). The finished planed workpiece must not be thinner than 6 mm!
