2-1
SECTION II
CONFIGURATION
2-1. GENERAL.
WARNING
Property damage, serious injury, or death to
you or others may result if the Vision warning
system is improperly configured. Configura-
tion, if required, is to be performed at the time
of installation. It is NOT intended for opera-
tors to “customize” the Vision’s operation for
their individual preferences. It is the USER’s
responsibility to determine compatibility,
suitability, and ensure proper configuration
of the Vision warning system.
The person responsible for configuration
MUST be familiar with local codes and proce-
dures for safe emergency vehicle warning
system operation.
NOTE
After configuration is completed and all func-
tions thoroughly tested, reconfiguration by
unauthorized individuals can be prevented by
performing the procedure described in
paragraph 2-6.
The Vision is an extremely versatile and config-
urable warning system. Take-down lights, alley
lights, secondary and primary warning light pat-
terns, and the optional SignalMaster directional
warning signals are all available with the “standard”
keyboard configurations. Also, control of auxiliary
devices (headlight flashers, grille lights, etc.) is
available.
Selecting one of the seven “standard” keyboard
configurations is referred to as Level 1 Configuration.
Most warning system operational requirements can
be satisfied by Level 1 Configuration.
When one of the “standard” keyboard configura-
tions will not provide the necessary warning system
functions, Level 2 Configuration will allow changing
individual switch functions within the selected
keyboard configuration. Also, Level 2 Configuration
can be used to design a completely new keyboard
configuration.
Level 2 Configuration will allow assigning up to
four functions to individual switches within a se-
lected keyboard configuration. Functions which are
configurable/selectable without disassembly, tools, or
special equipment are as follows:
A.
Pre-programmed patterns executed by the
Vision’s seven pods.
B.
SignalMaster patterns executed by the
optional SignalMaster rear directional light.
C.
Three auxiliary relay outputs to control
auxiliary lights and/or accessories.
D.
Each switch can be configured for push-on/
push-off, momentary, or eight-second timed opera-
tion.
IMPORTANT
When determining keyboard configuration
changes, keep in mind the configuration re-
strictions described in paragraph 2-3.
NOTE
Before proceeding, the person responsible for
configuration should read and understand
Section I Operation.
It is recommended that you perform the sample
configuration session described in paragraph 2-2.
below. The sample configuration session describes
the two configuration techniques and illustrates the
warning system’s capabilities. In addition, it will
provide you with the necessary training to properly
configure the warning system.
2-2. SAMPLE CONFIGURATION SESSION.
NOTE
If the warning system was previously in-
stalled, configured, and the procedure in
paragraph 2-6.A. was performed, the configu-
ration mode will be disabled. Refer to para-
graph 2-6.B. to enable the configuration mode.
A.
Enter Configuration Mode.
1.
Power-up the system and wait for the
self-test to complete. The Reset/Save LED changes
from flashing to steady illumination and a beep
sounds indicating the system is ready for use.
2.
Disconnect the modular connector at
the control head. Press and hold the Reset/Save
switch. Replace the modular connector at the control
head. The Reset/Save LED should be flashing.
