The point at which the calibration is made on the
calibration sample must always be identical with
the point of measurement on the product itself,
especially in the case of corners and edges of small
components. The precision stand proves invaluable
here.
3.1.4 The effects of substrate thickness
In the case of steel substrates, the thickness is of no
consequence as long as it is greater than the general
measuring range of the probe in use.
In the case of non-ferrous metals, it is sufficient when
the substrate is 50 µm (2 mils) thick and strong
