Draw the scanner in until:

It is within
scanning distance

Its apertures are pointed directly at the probe’s reflective disks.

Watch the monitor screen for the probe’s tip to appear in the
3D sensor cloud and the
probe volumes
.
Note that the red line onscreen is not the probe but rather an arrow pointing toward
the probe’s tip.
