Probing the Fiducial Points
After you have scanned the sensors, you will probe the skull landmark
fiducial points (nasion, left preauricular, and right preauricular) to confirm
those positions for the software.
For probing tips, see section 5.3.4.
For probing, you will need the GeoScan probe, along with the GeoScan
handheld scanner.
Carefully probe the fiducial points, as you will be touching the
probe to the subject’s skin. Probe especially carefully around the
eyes, when probing the nasion sensor.
When probing fiducial points:
•
Be careful around the subject’s eyes and skin.
•
Given the variation in head and face shapes, the fiducial points
may vary from subject to subject.
•
If helpful, use two technicians—one to handle the scanner
and one to handle the probe.
