3.4.6 Safety regulations and environmental protection regulations for handling bat-
tery acid
WARNING!
Danger of cauterization with acid!
–
Wear your personal protective equipment (pro-
tective gloves, protective clothing, goggles).
–
Do not allow clothes, skin or eyes to come into
contact with acid.
–
Rinse off spilled battery acid immediately with
lots of water.
Rinse acid off clothes, skin or eyes immediately
with lots of clean water.
Immediately call for medical advice in case of cau-
terization.
WARNING!
Danger of injury caused by exploding gas mix-
ture!

Remove the plugs before starting to recharge
the battery.
–
Ensure adequate ventilation.
–
Smoking and open fire is prohibited!
–
Do not lay any tools or other metal objects on
the battery.
–
Do not wear jewellery (watch, bracelets, etc.)
when working on the battery.
–
Wear your personal protective equipment (pro-
tective gloves, protective clothing, goggles).
ENVIRONMENT!
Battery acid is an environmentally hazardous
substance!
–
Dispose of battery and battery acid according
to regulations.
