Entrapment Protection Types
Class III - Industrial/Limited Access
Vehicular Gate Operator
A vehicular gate operator (or system) intended for use in an
industrial location or building such as a factory or loading dock
area or other locations not accessible by or intended to service
the general public.

UL 325 Classifications
Type A
- Inherent entrapment protection system.
Type B1
- Non-contact sensor (photoelectric sensor or the equivalent).
Type B2
- Contact sensor (edge device or equivalent).
Type C
- Inherent force limiting, inherent adjustable clutch or inherent pressure relief device.
Type D
- Actuating device requiring constant pressure to maintain opening or closing motion of the gate.

Barrier gate operators (arm)
that is not intended to move toward a rigid object
closer than 16 inches (406 mm) are not required to
be provided with a means of entrapment protection.

public, in which unauthorized access is prevented via supervision
by security personnel.

families.

or other buildings accessible by or servicing the general public.
