On-board SCSI Bus Configuration
A Fast SCSI-2 controller on the system board supports the two 5¼-inch removable media
devices (typically a CDROM drive and a tape drive) and internal fixed drives. This
controller provides a narrow (8-bit) single-ended SCSI bus for the system.
You can configure this bus to be purely an internal bus, or to support a restricted set set of
internal SCSI devices and a single external SCSI device. You can also configure this bus
to support only the 5¼-inch removable media devices, and up to five external SCSI
devices, when an alternative SCSI controller option is connected to the StorageWorks
shelf.
Internal Configuration
When you configure the SCSI bus to be a purely internal bus (Figure 6-7), you must
terminate the bus with an external SCSI terminator (12-41667-01) at the bulkhead
connector. Expanding externally from the back of the enclosure is not permitted in this
configuration because doing so would violate SCSI bus length rules.
