E. Measuring R esi stance
(figure 5)
Warning – To avoid damages to the Meter or to th e devices under test, disconn ect circuit power and
disch arge all the high-voltage cap acitor s before measuring resi stance.
To measure resist anc e, connect the Meter as f ollows:
7. Insert the red test lead into t he
V
Ω
terminal and the black test lead into the
COM
terminal.
8. Set the rotary switch to an appropriat e meas urement position in
Ω
range.
9. Connect the test leads across with the object being measured.
The m eas ure value shows on the display .
Note
l
The t est leads c an add 0.1
Ω
to 0.3
Ω
of error t o the resistance measurem ent. To obtain precision readings in low-
resistanc e, that is the range of 200
Ω
, short-circuit the red and black test leads bef orehand and rec ord t he reading
obtained (called this reading as X). Then use t he equation:
Meas ured resist anc e value (Y) – (X) = precision readings of resistance.
l
For high res istanc e (>1M
Ω
), it is norm al taking s everal s econds to obt ain a stable reading.
l
When there is no input, f or example in open circuit condition, the Met er display s “
1
”.
l
When resist anc e meas urement has been c ompleted, disconnect the connection bet ween the testing leads and
the circ uit under test.
