H. Capacitance Measurement
(figure 8)
Warning: To avoid damag e to the Meter or to the eq uipment und er test, disconnect th e tested circuit
power when measuring on line cap acitors an d discharge all high-voltag e capacitors before measuring
cap acitance. U se th e DC voltag e function to confir m that the capacitor is discharged.
Never attemp t to input o ver 60V in DC or 3V r ms in AC to avoid perso nal dan gerous.
To measure c apacitance, connect the Met er as f ollows:
7. Insert the capacit or to be test ed into the capacit ance jack.
8. Set the rotary switch to an appropriate m eas urem ent position in range.
9. Connect the test leads across with the object being measured.
The measured v alue shows on the dis play .
Note
l
For testing the capac itor wit h polarity , connect the red test lead to anode & black test lead to cathode.
l
When the tested capacitor is short ed or the v alue is ov erloaded, the LCD display “
1
”.
l
To minim ize the measurement error caused by the distribut ed c apacitor, the c onnection should be as short as
possible.
l
It is normal to tak e a while f or zeroing when changing ov er the m eas urement range. This process will not aff ect
the acc uracy of the f inal readings obtained.
