Installing the optional 2.5 inch hard drive cage
The PSU 2 slot also functions as the optional 2.5 inch hard drive cage slot. If you install the 2.5 inch hard
drive cage in the PSU 2 slot, your system will not support the redundancy feature.
Prerequisites
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only
perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as
directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is
not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions
that are shipped with your product.
1.
Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions section.
2.
Follow the procedure listed in the Before working inside your system section.
3.
Remove the PSU/PSU blank, if installed.
4.
Install the 2.5 inch hard drives in the hard drive cage.
5.
Route the power and signal cables through the hard drive cage slot.
6.
Keep the Phillips #1 screwdriver ready.
Steps
1.
Slide the hard drive cage into the hard drive cage slot in the chassis.
2.
Secure the hard drive cage to the hard drive cage slot by using the screws.
