Legionella prevention system
17.4.1. General.
As of mid-2020, the UVC6000 legionella prevention system
will be used for various TERA dust control unit models as an
option.
Legionella are bacteria that could cause legionnaires’
disease.
Infection takes place through breathing in the
bacteria in minuscule drops of water that are spread in the air
(shower, whirlpool, dust control unit). The bacteria can grow
at 20°-50°C in stagnant water.
Simple basic rules of prevention are:
•
Always use mains water.
•
Allow water to flow through the water hose before
connecting.
•
Carefully empty the dust control unit after use.
The UVC6000 kills the bacteria that are present in the water
by means of ultraviolet light, significantly reducing the risk of
spreading legionella.
The UV unit is placed against the left column of the TERA, the
control panel against the right column.
17.4.2. Starting.
The UVC6000 does NOT start at the same time as the TERA,
but should be started manually.
1.
First start the TERA.
2.
Open the cover of the UVC control panel.
3.
Press the blue button.
4.
The UVC6000 will now start, this takes to 2 to 3
minutes.
The 2 top leds light up when the UV lamps are operational
(left) and there is flowing water present (right)
The LED indicator on the left side (arrow) indicates the UV
intensity (=operation):
•
Green: Good UV operation.
•
Yellow: Reduced UV operation:
Check water quality first
•
Red:
Insufficient UV operation:
1) Check water quality first.
2) The lamps must be replaced.
Regularly check the LED indicator – a few times per day.
