Use of roof anchors
with batten mounting
Never attach safety harnesses to the
mounting system. Safety harnesses must
always be attached to roof members capa-
ble of taking the weight, e.g. the rafters. The
safety equipment should always be attached to the raft-
ers to the left or right of and above the solar panels.
1. Expose the area for the installation (length of the fix-
ing batten).
It is usually sufficient simply to slide the roof
tiles upwards.
2. The fixing battens (18) are screwed to the rafters at
a distance of 160 mm from the roof batten (32) be-
low to install the roof anchors.
The distance of 160 mm depends on the
roof anchor and the roof covering and may
have to be modified to suit.
The fixing battens (A) must be spaced at a distance
of 1550 to 1800 mm from one another (measured
top edge to top edge). If the distance is less than
1670 mm or is greater than 1720 mm, it will be nec-
essary to use roof anchor extensions.
The fixing battens are laid parallel at a uniform dis-
tance and are screwed onto the rafter.
