Subnet Mask
The subnet mask number is combined with the IP address number to identify which net
-
work segment the CM968x is on.
A subnet mask is a 32-bit number that is composed by using four numbers from 0
through 255, separated by periods. Typically, default subnet mask numbers use either 0
or 255 as values (such as 255.255.255.0), but other number values can appear.
To connect the device to an existing LAN, specify the Subnet Mask that the LAN uses.
Gateway Address
A gateway is a router that connects separate IP network segments. For example, a net
-
work segment might need a gateway to connect it to another network segment, a wide
area network (WAN), or to the Internet.
This feature specifies the address of a local IP router on the same network as the
CM968x, used to forward traffic to destinations beyond the local network. The value in
each field must be a number from 0 through 255.
