8.6.3. Setup
The bridge HW2 normally operates over the same conditions than the bridge HW1. Therefore, the
aggregate map’s configurations and the equipment’s general configurations are identical of the bridge
HW1. As for the specific configurations, there are three important differences:

•
Packet Sequencing: Enable / Disable packet ordainment.
•
Packet Slice: (minimal=156 / standard=300 / maximum=1556) Size of the packet slice used in the
ordainment. The smaller values benefit the band distribution amongst the channels. However, it
compromise the relation payload/overhead more.
•
Inverse Multiplexing: this option disappears from the equipment configurations by using bridge
HW2 due to it always stays enabled in this product.
8.6.4. Interoperability between Bridge HW1 and Bridge HW2
The bridge HW2 is compatible with the HW1 in case of some specific configurations are set, enabling its
interoperability.
The following parameters should be set in order to connect the equipment with different bridge versions:
•
Bridge HW1 configuration: Inverse Multiplexing
= Enable
•
Bridge HW2 configuration: Packet Sequencing = Disable
A bridge HW2 is capable to manage another remotely (bridge HW1 by the intermediate of DMView / bridge
HW2 by terminal or DmView) even if the Packet Sequencing or Packet Slicer is being with different values
than the equipment. Therefore, the remote management is independent of the packet sequencing.
8.6.5. Remote Management
The management via terminal is only compatible with the same firmware type (version with ordainment is
capable to manage versions with ordainment only and vice-versa). Via management of remote, or DMLAN,
there is no limitation. In this case, both versions are manageable remotely.
The equipment with firmware version 36 (or anterior) will indicate “unknown equipment” for a remote that
has the version with ordainment.
Despite the remote management is not allowed, the terminal (version 37 or upper, and all firmware with
ordainment) will correctly indicate the software type used in the remote.
The bridge card HW2 is not able to exchange data or management to a bridge card HW1 with the disabled
Inverse Mux.
