4.3.3 DIFFERENTIAL GEAR
A. ADJUSTING TURNING TORQUE OF 9T
BEVEL PINION SHAFT AND DIFFERENTIAL
ASSEMBLY COMBINED
1. Install the differential assembly with left and right
shims (4) same as before removing.
2. Check that there is backlash. If there is no backlash,
move a right shim to the left.

If the thickness of shims is not known, install the
differential assembly with no shim at bearing sup-
port RH (3) side and with adequate number of shims
at bearing support LH (2) side to create a backlash.
3. After applying transmission fluid to the bearings,
measure the turning torque by turning the 9T bevel
pinion shaft.
4. I f t h e t u r n i n g t o r q u e e x c e e d s t h e f a c t o r y
specification, add a shim to the bearing support
RH (3) side.
5. Adjust the turning torque by repeating the above
procedures 3, 4.
