Configuring the Seres
All aspects of Seres operation may be configured through either serial port
with the use of NMEA 0183 commands. These commands are described
in the following chapter. The following items are user-configurable:
•
Selecting one of the two on-board applications (SBAS or e-Dif, if present)
•
Setting the baud rate of both communication ports
•
Choosing which NMEA data messages to output on the dual serial ports and
the update rate of each message
•
Setting the maximum differential age cut-off
•
Setting the satellite elevation angle cut-off mask
4.4
Changing the Application
As discussed in Section 3.53, the Seres features two application slots for
SBAS operation and optionally e-Dif. Changing between applications is easy
with the use of the $JAPP,OTHER<CR><LF> command discussed in
Chapter 6.
4.5
Configuring the Data Message Output
The Seres smart antenna features two bi-directional ports referred to as A
and B. GPS data messages for both ports are easily configured by sending
NMEA commands to the Seres receiver through either of its
communication ports (the output of Port B can be configured through A,
for instance and vice versa). The $JASC NMEA message discussed in
Chapter 6 in details allows you to turn messages on and off as you require.
4.5.1
This Port and the Other Port
The NMEA interface for both Seres serial ports use ‘This’ and ‘other’
terminology. When interfacing to either port for the sake of turning data
messages on or off, on that same port, the port is referred to as ‘This’ port.
