MAINTENANCE OF THE CHAIN
CHAIN TENSION
Regularly check the chain tension and readjust it as often
as possible to ensure the tight fit of the chain on the
guiding bar – however, the chain must also be loose
enough to smoothly move it by hand.
RUN-IN OF A NEW CHAIN
A new chain and bar must be readjusted after less than 5
cuts. This is normal during run-in, and the intervals
between future readjustments will increase.
LUBRICATING THE CHAIN
Always verify whether the automatic lubrication system
works properly. See that the oil tank is always filled.
During sawing work, the bar and chain must always be
sufficiently lubricated to reduce the sliding friction between
them.
The bar and chain must never be without lubrication. If
you operate the saw with an insufficient lubrication the
cutting performance will decrease and the saw’s service
life shortened, the chain will become blunt quickly, and
the bar will wear out very quickly as a result of
overheating. A lack of lubrication can be realised by
smoke development or discoloration of the bar.
SHARPENING THE CHAIN
To sharpen the chain special tools are required; these
ensure that the cutting teeth are filed to the right angle
and depth. For the inexperienced user of a chain saw,
we recommend to have the saw chain sharpened by an
appropriate local service. If you are confident to be able
to sharpen the saw chain yourself you can purchase the
required special tools from the professional customer
service.
WASTE DISPOSAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL
PROTECTION
Never pour remainders of chain lubricant or 2-stroke
fuel mixture in the drain or sewerage system or soil, but
dispose of it in a proper, environmentally friendly way,
e.g., at a special collecting point or dump.
If your device should become useless somewhere in
the future or you do not need it any longer, do not
dispose of the device together with your domestic
refuse, but dispose of it in an environmentally friendly
manner. Thoroughly empty the oil/lubricant and fuel
tanks and dispose of the remainders at a special
collecting point or dump. Please also dispose of the
device itself at an according collecting/recycling point.
By doing so, plastic and metal parts can be separated
and recycled. Information concerning the disposal of
materials and devices are available from your local
administration.
