For ease of reference the numbers shown on the list
below correspond to the numbers shown on the
page GB-2 under safety precautions.

A LOW KICKBACK SAW CHAIN in combination with
other specially designed safety devices helps you
to avoid kickbacks.
Avoid kickback by not over reaching, keeping the
saw below chest height, keeping hands securely
in place, using the appropriate chain speed for
the wood being cut.
4
The SPARK GRID keeps coal or other inflammable
particles bigger than 0.6 mm back from the engine’s
exhaust gases. The operator is responsible for the
conformity with local, national and other statutory
and/or other regulations applicable for the use of
spark grids. See the safety instructions for further
information.
5
The CHAIN BRAKE LEVER / HAND PROTECTOR
protects the operator’s left hand if it should slip
from the front handle when the chain saw is
running.
5
The CHAIN BRAKE is a safety feature for the
reduction of injuries because of kickbacks; it stops
a running saw chain within milliseconds. The chain
brake is actuated by the CHAIN BRAKE LEVER.
10 The STOP SWITCH stops the engine immediately
when it is switched off. The stop switch must be
switched to position EIN (ON) to start or restart the
engine.
11 The SAFETY SWITCH prevents an accidental ac-
celeration of the engine. The throttle lever (19)
can only be pushed when the safety switch is
pushed down.
20 The CHAIN CATCHER reduces the danger of
injuries if the saw chain should break or slip off
when the engine is running. It is designed to
catch a chain that is lashing out.
21 The EXHAUST PROTECTOR keeps hands and
flammable materials away from the exhaust pipe.
22 The METAL FIXING CLAWS are designed to protect
the operator and ease cutting. The fixing device
enhances the stability when doing vertical cuts.
NOTE:
Acquaint yourself with the chain saw and its
components.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR ASSEMBLY
TOOLS REQUIRED FOR ASSEMBLY
You need the following tools/equipment to assemble the
chain saw:
1. Combination wrench, screwdriver (included in the tool kit).
2. Rugged protective gloves (not included).
CONDITIONS FOR ASSEMBLY
ATTENTION ! Start the saw’s engine ONLY when
the saw is completely assembled and prepared.
With a new chain saw, the chain tension must be adjusted,
the fuel tank filled with the right fuel mixture, and the oil tank
with proper oil before the saw can be put into operation.
Read these operating instruction carefully and completely
before you start working with the saw. Pay special attention
to safety instructions.
These operating instructions shall serve as a reference
and as a manual giving general information concerning
the assembly, operation and maintenance of the chain
saw.
ASSEMBLING THE BAR / SAW CHAIN / CLUTCH COVER
ATTENTION ! Always wear protective gloves when
handling the chain.
ASSEMBLING THE BAR
To ensure that the bar and chain are properly lubricated
ONLY USE THE ORIGINAL BAR with oil duct (A) (see
above, Fig. 3A).
1. Make sure that the chain brake lever has been pulled
back to position ENTKUPPELT (DISENGAGED) (Fig. 3B).
2. Remove the 2 bar fastening nuts (B). Unscrew the 2
screws on the backside of the clutch cover (C).
Remove the cover (Fig. 3C).
3. Turn the adjusting screw (D) ANTICLOCKWISE using
a screwdriver until the pulling bolt (E) (projecting tip) is
positioned at the end of the threading towards clutch
drum and gear wheel (Fig. 3D).
4. Put the notched end of the bar over the 2 bar pins (F).
Align the bar such that the pulling bolt fits into the hole
(G) in the bar (Fig. 3E).
ASSEMBLING THE SAW CHAIN
1. Lay out the chain in the form of a loop where the
cutting edges (A) are aligned CLOCKWISE around the
loop (Fig. 4A).
2. Slide the chain around the gearwheel (B) located
behind the clutch (C). Please note that the chain links
must be inserted between the teeth (Fig, 4B).
3. Put the driving links into the groove (D) and around
the tip of the bar (Fig. 4B).
NOTE: It may occur that the saw chain slightly hangs
down at the lower part of the bar. This is nothing
unusual.
4. Attach the clutch cover and fasten it with 2 screws.
When you do this, the chain must not slide from the bar.
Tighten the 2 nuts hand-tight and follow the instructions
for adjusting the tension in the section ADJUSTING
THE CHAIN TENSION.
NOTE:
Up to this point of the assembly, the bar fastening
nuts remain only finger-tight as the saw chain is still to be
adjusted. Follow the instructions in the section ADJUSTING
THE CHAIN TENSION.
ADJUSTING THE CHAIN TENSION
The right tension of the saw chain is extremely important
and must be verified before starting the device and in the
course of any sawing work.
If you take the time to properly adjust the saw chain you
will be able to make better cuts and the saw’s service life
will be prolonged.
ATTENTION ! Always wear rugged protective gloves
when handling or adjusting the saw chain.
ADJUSTING THE SAW CHAIN
1. Keep the tip of the bar pointing upward and turn the
adjusting screw (B) clockwise to increase the tension of
the chain. Turning the screw anticlockwise will decrease
