14.2
Internet Communication (Wi-Fi and Ethernet)
This feature is to be implemented in a future firmware release.
Internet connection through Wi-Fi and Ethernet allows for a secondary alarm message pathway. This reduces cellular
data usage if the Internet communication pathway is the primary pathway, with cellular as backup. During power
failure the Wi-Fi and Ethernet monitoring may be turned off to save power.

Reporting Process
15.1
To Activate an Emergency Alert:
•
Press and hold a personal help button for three seconds, or press the
Help
button on SEVEN, to
activate an emergency alert.
•
A loud pre-alarm sequence will sound and the lights under the
Help
button illuminate clockwise to indicate that
an emergency activation is being sent. The pre-alarm sequence is ten (10)* seconds.
If there has been a false alarm, you can
STOP
the alert being sent at this point by pressing the Cancel
button during the 10 second pre-alarm sequence.
•
When the pre-alarm sequence stops the alert for help cannot be cancelled and will proceed to the monitoring
centre. Voice messages are played to let the SEVEN user know they are being connected to help.
•
A monitoring centre operator will call back to the base unit and speak over the hands-free speakerphone.
•
When the operator ends the call, SEVEN will automatically hang up.
•
SEVEN will answer incoming calls for ten minutes * after an alert for help. After each incoming call is answered,
the speakerphone will automatically pick up calls for another ten minutes. This allows the monitoring centre to
phone again if needed.
If the connection to monitoring is unsuccessful, then SEVEN retries sixteen times, thirty seconds apart, and
then every ten minutes*.
15.2
Pearl Reporting
15.2.1
RF Test Transmissions
:
Pearl sends a test transmission to the base unit every seven hours. When Pearl is learned into the base unit,
and is ‘active’,
it monitors these transmissions and reports if they are missing after a period of time. This is a
safety feature to detect if a Pearl has stopped working, or has been taken off site.
A report is generated (RF device failed to test), when the test transmission from Pearl has been missing for
the time set in the base unit. Chiptech recommends this to be set between 28-55 hours, and to be sent
immediately.
If the base unit has reported an RF device failed to test, and then receives a test transmission from the
Pearl, the base unit will send a restore report to monitoring.
15.2.2
Pearl Low Battery:
When Pearl is performing its test transmissions, it also checks its battery capacity. If the capacity is below
20% (in four or more out of eight transmissions) then it reports low battery to the base unit. A low battery
report is then included in the daily test signal report to the monitoring centre.
