Operating Principles
Edge Maxx
5-22
Stand-by Phase
During this phase, the incoming power
is connected to the unit, but the unit is not
operating.
When the main disconnect switch is turned
ON, power passes through FILT1 and is present
in the control box. In addition:
Line power terminates at:
CON1 (Left and right inlet inverters).
CON2 (Left and right transfer invert-
ers).
CON3 (Lower spreader and exit in-
verters).
CON4 (Upper spreader servomotor,
left and right side conveyor motors and
reject conveyor motor).
One phase of incoming power supplies
the transformers (T3, T4) and DC power
supplies (PWS1, PWS2).
T3 provides 24VAC for the start/con-
trol circuit.
T4 provides 75VAC for the florescent
light.
PWS1 provides 24VDC for P01 con-
trol power and one of the DC control
circuits.
PWS2 provides 24VDC for P02/P03
control power and the other DC control
circuit.
If the compressed air is on, the main
regulator is pressurized, the air tank fills,
pressurizes the inlet conveyor lift gauge,
and terminates as the main solenoid
valve (SV2) as well as several subsidiary
solenoid valves and the discharge
conveyor lift valves.

Start-up Phase
This phase begins when an operator pushes the
green Start button at either station.
24Vdc from PWS1 flows to energize the
CR0 coil, closing the CR0 A, B and C
contacts.
The closing of the CR0B (start) contacts
allows the CR1B (power) contacts to
be bypassed, sending power to the P01
DC power module in the right endframe,
which powers the Interlock and Sensor
blocks, resulting in the energizing of
CR1.
At the same time, PO1 sends power
to the operator interface (CHI Panel),
which then signals the Wago I/O System
Head to run its start up diagnostics:
ON LED goes on
I/O Err LED blinks
I/O Run LED blinks slowly
A1 & A2 (last module) LEDs blink
then glow steady
The TxD, RxD and CRC LEDs glow
I/O Run LED constantly blinks fast
CR46 is pre-energized by output from
PSW1 if all inlet touch and crossbeam
sensor contacts are closed.
CR2 is pre-energized by output from
PSW1 if the CR46 contacts are closed
and all safety circuit contacts are closed.
With CR1A, CR0A and CR2 contacts
closed, CON1, CON2, CON3 and CON4
are each energized in turn.
With CON4 energized, one phase of
power is now available and terminates
at CR31, CR32, CR39 and CR40, which
control the various floor motors.
NOTE:
The compressed air
supply must be turned ON or the
unit will display an AIR PRESSURE
LO message on the CHI Panel.
