Discharge Conveyor Ribbons
Tension Adjustment
Tension on the discharge ribbons should be
adjusted when ribbons sag or tend to track to one
side. These conditions cause excessive wear on
the ribbons and can shorten their life.
Required Tools
3/8”, 9/16”, 3/4” wrenches, pliers
Perform only when the unit is OFF
with power disconnected.
Make sure the DISCHARGE CONVEY-
OR UP/DOWN switch is in the DOWN
position.
Turn power OFF at the main disconnect
switch.
Locate the adjusting bolts which secure
the two sections of the discharge (Figure
7-35, A). Loosen these bolts.
Locate the adjusting screw at each side of
the discharge conveyor (Figure 7-35, B).
Loosen the locknuts (Figure 7-35, C) and
adjust each screw the same number of
turns clockwise until the ribbons are snug
against the roll.
Test the tension by pulling up lightly on the
ribbon. Resistance should be felt within
1/4”’ to 1/2” (6 to 13 mm).
Adjust further as needed.
Tighten the locknuts and the section bolts
to secure the adjustment.

Discharge Conveyor Ribbons
Replacement
When ribbon tension can no longer be
adjusted, the entire set of discharge ribbons must
be replaced.
Ribbons that break should be replaced
immediately. It is recommended that the entire set
of ribbons be replaced in order to avoid excessive
stress on only one new, slightly shorter ribbon.
At a minimum, it is recommended that ribbons
be replaced in pairs.
Each discharge ribbon has a 1/2 right twist
(Figure 7-36) in order to minimize lint build-
up and keep the ribbon holes from becoming
clogged. It is important in replacing ribbons that
this twist be maintained.
