Adjusting the Clamps
As appropriate:
If there is a gap between the jaw and the
body, follow the next procedure.
If there was some free play in the jaw,
follow the
Adjust Air Cylinder Stroke
procedure which follows.
Make Grip Parallel
Turn off compressed air to the clamps by
releasing the main solenoid screw from
Step 3 of the
Checking the Clamps
procedure by turning it 1/4 turn counter-
clockwise.
Manually pull the clamp jaw open.
Loosen the three screws which secure the
replaceable grip (Figure 7-13, A).
Manually push the clamp jaw closed and
check to make sure the grip aligns parallel
with the clamp body.
As appropriate:
If it does:
Carefully open the jaw without dis-
turbing the position of the grip.
Tighten the screws which secure
the grip in position.
Push the clamp jaw closed to re-
check the alignment.
Repeat the
Checking the Clamps
procedure.
If it does not, perform the next pro-
cedure.

If necessary, turn on compressed air to
the clamps by locking the main solenoid
screw from Step 3 of the
Checking the
Clamps
procedure by turning it 1/4 turn
clockwise.
Loosen the jam nut (Figure 7-11, B).
Turn the rod end one half turn counter-
clockwise, or more if necessary, to get a
firm contact.
Tighten the jam nut.
Repeat the
Make Grip Parallel proce-
dure.
Repeat the
Checking the Clamps
pro-
cedure.
Start the unit and test the operation of the
transfer clamp by feeding several pieces.
