8.2.9 Validating CRVW3 Radio Operation
If you have a CRVW3 with a radio option (–RF451 or –RF407), you should
validate that the radio on the device is working properly before leaving the site.
Use a laptop computer running
DevConfig
and
LoggerNet
with a USB
connection to do this. Follow the process described in Section
(p. 29)
, using the antenna just installed for the
CRVW3, and a “whip” antenna on the portable base radio.
For devices with the –RF451 option, you will use an RF451 configured as the
master radio and connected to the laptop. For devices with the –RF407 option,
you will use an RF407 connected to the laptop. Position the laptop and radio at
least 25 feet away from the antenna installed on the CRVW3 to avoid radio
frequency (RF) interference that can impede communications.
A CRVW3 with a radio option can be configured to cause the radio to be
powered only at certain times during the day. This is done using the
Radio
Power Schedule
tab in
DevConfig
. In the
Radio start (power-on) time
,
specify the time of day for the radio to be initially powered. Set the
Radio-on
duration
to the amount of time for the radio to be powered. Use the
Repeat
radio-on cycle
to cause the radio to be powered on (for the
Radio-on
duration
) periodically throughout the day. For example:
Radio start (power-on) time
00:00
Radio-on duration
15 minutes
Repeat radio-on cycle
Every 6 hours
In this example, the radio would be powered on for 15 minutes at midnight,
6:00 AM., noon, and 6:00 PM.
When the radio powers on, the
RX/TX
LED shows solid orange for 1 to 2
seconds. When the radio powers off, a short orange flash is seen on the
RX/TX
LED. When the shut-off time is reached, the radio will stay on long enough to
complete any current transactions and then switch off.
