CRVW3 3-Channel Vibrating-Wire Datalogger
79
Use a temporary CRVW3 station and
LoggerNet
to validate the operation of
your deployed RF407 base station before leaving the site (see Section
(p. 76)
, above).
10.6 Repeater Station Deployment
A repeater station in a CRVW3 radio network can be either a CRVW3 station
configured as a repeater, or a dedicated repeater station.
To configure a CRVW3 station as a repeater station, follow the steps outlined
Deployment of CRVW3 Radio Stations
(p. 74)
, but use an
omnidirectional antenna instead of a directional/Yagi antenna. Additionally, set
the
Is Router
setting located on the
PakBus
tab of the
Settings Editor
tab in
DevConfig
to
True
(p. 79)
for additional configuration steps required when using the CRVW3-RF451 as a
repeater.
For dedicated repeater stations, the stand-alone radio that matches the radio
type of your CRVW3 stations should be used (RF407, RF450, RF451). Consult
the manual for that radio device for instructions on setting up and configuring a
repeater station. You should ensure that proper power, enclosure, grounding,
and mounting options are available for the station.
If CRVW3 end-nodes have already been deployed that rely on this repeater site
being installed and configured, you can test it before leaving the site (see
Field Deployment Considerations
(p. 73)
). Use a temporary base
station and laptop running
LoggerNet
to connect to one or more of the remote
CRVW3 sites through the repeater. (See Section
(p. 80)
, for
LoggerNet
configuration details). Be sure to place the
base radio more than 25 feet away from the repeater antenna to avoid
interference. Validation of the repeater station by performing a test at the
permanent base station location is also recommended. Travel to the base station
location, and use the process outlined in Section
(p. 76)
, but use the remote CRVW3 (routed through the repeater) as the test
device instead of the local/temporary CRVW3.
10.6.1 Repeaters on RF451 Networks
When using a CRVW3-RF451 as a repeater station, ensure that the
Radio
Operation Mode
setting on the
Radio
tab on the
Settings Editor
tab in
DevConfig
is set to
Point to MultiPoint Slave/Repeater
. When using
slave/repeater devices in lab conditions, ensure each device is using an antenna
such as a ½ wave whip. Also see instructions in Section
(p. 79)
.
When using a dedicated repeater station on an RF451 Network, use the RF451
radio as the main component of the station. Consult the RF451 manual for
details about the configuration of the radio as a repeater device
s.campbellsci.com/documents/us/manuals/rf451.pdf
). See also Section
(p. 79)
.
10.6.2 Repeaters on RF407 Networks
When using a CRVW3-RF407 as a repeater station, the instructions in Section
(p. 79)
, cover all of the necessary
configuration steps.
