Wiring
temporary
sensors
to
the
CRVW3
Wire
your
sensors
temporarily
to
the
CRVW3
while
in
the
lab
to
validate
measurement
operation.
You
can
use
the
actual
sensors
(or
similar)
that
will
be
used
when
the
device
is
deployed
to
the
field.
Consider
that
any
sensors
connected
in
the
lab
may
need
to
be
disconnected
from
the
CRVW3
when
the
system
is
transported
to
the
field
location.
Turn
off
the
CRVW3
before
wiring
sensors
to
it.
This
includes
removing
the
USB
cable,
if
connected.
NOTE:
The USB connection supplies 5 VDC power as well as a direct communications link, which is
adequate for setup. 12 VDC power will be needed for field deployment and radio
communications. Measurements made while powered only with USB will result in NAN (not a
number) for measurement output.
A vibrating-wire sensor may contain a built-in thermistor or other resistive temperature
measurement device. If so, it will have five wires. Sensors without built-in temperature monitoring
have only three wires. Refer to the manufacturer documentation to determine what sensor type
you have.
