The definitions of the fields in the Compression and Congestion window are listed below:
Interface # - Alias —
Displays the available, pre-configured interface numbers and the alias
names assigned to them.
Compression —
Displays the status of data compression for a specific interface. Options for this
field are either on (box shows a check mark) or off.
The following defines the fields for Frame Relay only:
Committed # Burst —
Displays the Committed Burst size, which is the maximum amount of
data a user may offer to the network during a calculated time interval. Data is guaranteed not to be
discarded by the network.
Excess # Burst —
Displays the Excess Burst size, which is the maximum amount of data by
which a user can exceed the Committed Burst size. This data is not guaranteed to be passed by the
network.
Throughput —
Displays the maximum bandwidth of your WAN connection.
To turn data compression on or off for a specific interface, click on the interface number that you
wish to configure in the compression scroll list, then click the compression check box. Click OK
to apply the changes to the interface.
When you have completed compression configuration, click on the Save button to save any
changes you make, then click on the Exit button to exit the Compression and Congestion window.
