Maintenance and inspection
This chapter will familiarise the operator and authorised personnel with the proper maintenance and the
fundamentals for proper testing and inspection of the door system in accordance with the guidelines.
When maintaining and cleaning the door system, the safety information and warnings in chapters 2 Safety and
3 Other risks must be strictly followed!
9.1
Fundamentals for testing power-operated doors
9.1.1 Safety requirements
The safety requirements for power-operated doors are regulated in the following regulations:
2006/42/EC Machinery Directive
2004/108 EC Directive on electromagnetic compatibility
ASR A1.7 Technical rules for doors and doors in workplaces
DIN EN 13241-1 Product standard for doors part 1: productions without fire and smoke protection
characteristics
Regulation 305/2011 regarding marketing of construction products
9.1.2 Technical rule ASR A1.7
According to section 10.2 of the Technical Rule for Doors and Gates at Workplaces, ASR A1.7, power-
operated doors and doors must be tested by a qualified professional before the first use and as needed, by at
least once annually. This testing is not the same as maintenance.
9.1.3 Qualified professional
Qualified professionals are individuals who possess sufficient knowledge in the subject of power-operated
doors based on their professional training and experience and who are familiar with the applicable national
work protection regulations, accident prevention regulations, guidelines and other recognised technical rules
(e.g. VDE determinations, DIN sheets, technical rules of other member states to the European Economic Area
Agreement), so that they are able to assess that power-operated doors are functioning in a safe manner.
These individuals include, for example, the manufacturer's qualified personnel or those of delivery companies,
personnel from the company where the door is located that have been trained by the manufacturer or other
people with corresponding professional knowledge.
Attention! Maintenance work!
In principle, the maintenance work on the system should only be performed by authorised service
personnel of Butzbach GmbH Industrietore.
The authorised service personnel have a service and maintenance manual.
However, the maintenance and inspection activities described in section 9.2.1 can be performed
by
authorised operational personnel
.
