5.4.8 Safety edge control
Figure 5 Safety edge control
Topic
Description
Classification
Standard or optional second safety edge control
Design
EPDM rubber shaped into a semi-circle, which is framed with aluminium profiles at the sides
and ends
Placement
Screwed into the front side of the vertical frame profiles
Operation
Triggered upon application of force to the EPDM semi-circular rubber pieces
Function
Upon application of force to the safety edge control, the limit switches respond and trigger
the emergency mode of the door control system, so that there is protection at the crushing
and shearing points in the hazardous area.
Result
When a door leaf hits an obstacle, the system switches off within the pre-set run path. The
reversal of direction lasts approx. three seconds in order to clear the obstacle.
5.4.9 Drive mechanism
In the case of electrically operated sliding door systems, there is a drive unit with motor and drive chain located
in the base of the powered door leaf. The drive unit is controlled with a frequency convertor. The respectively
integrated motor brakes bring the corresponding motor to a stop.
Door leaf operating speed: 0.25 m/s.
