Replacing the optical waveguide
Review
Only replace optical waveguides in the event of a mechanical defect. It
is possible to replace them individually or in pairs. The procedure is
identical. Only one channel is connected as a standard.
Required aids
Allen key (2.5 mm), hexagon wrenches width across flats 13 and 15.
STOP!
The optical waveguides are sensitive, optical components.
Never expose the optical waveguides to mechanical stress (e.g. pulling,
bending, crushing or twisting).
Preparatory work:
•
Switch off the register controller.

•
Danger of explosion!
Regularly check the optical waveguide for
damage. Replace damaged optical waveguides to re-establish the
conductive connection (equipotential bonding)!
Perform the following operating steps to remove the optical waveguide:
Use an Allen key to undo the two Allen screws (width
across flats 2.5 mm) of the optical waveguide end part.
Pull the optical waveguide end part off from the housing.
Remove the optical waveguide from the energy chain and
the optical waveguide holders.
Undo the locking screw and remove the sensing head
from its holder.
