14. Install spark plug wire onto spark plug terminal.
15. Start and run engine for one minute. Check for oil
leaks while engine is running.
16. Dispose of used oil at a proper waste disposal or
recycling center.
Clean/Replace Air Filter
1. See Figure 8. Loosen two thumbscrews (
A
) to
release air cleaner cover (
B
) from air cleaner base.
2. Remove air filter (
C
) from air cleaner base.
NOTE:
Exercise care to keep dust and dirt out of
carburetor. Inadequate precautions can result in
engine damage.
3. Gently tap air filter cartridge on a hard surface to
remove dust, dirt and debris.
NOTE:
Use of pressurized air or solvents will damage
air filter cartridge.
4. Carefully inspect air filter cartridge. Replace if any
damage is observed.
5. Inspect seal (
D
) in air cleaner base for cuts,
tears, holes, or general deterioration. Replace as
necessary.
6. Use a soft bristle brush and a portable hand vacuum
to remove all dust and dirt from air cleaner cover and
air cleaner base.
7. Install air filter cartridge and quad seal into air cleaner
base.
8. Install air cleaner cover onto air cleaner base.
Alternately tighten two thumbscrews until snug, but
do not over-tighten.

9. See Figure 9. Inspect duckbill air valve on air inlet
port of air cleaner base. Look for cuts, tears, holes,
or general deterioration. Replace duckbill air valve if
damaged or missing.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Engine operation without the
duckbill air valve can reduce filter efficiency by as
much as 50 percent.
Clean/Replace Low Profile Air Filter (If
Equipped)
1. See Figure 10. Move latch (
A
) to unlock air cleaner
cover (
B
), and push in side tabs (
C
) to release from
air cleaner base (
D
).
2. Remove air filter cartridge (
E
) from air cleaner base.
Gently tap air filter cartridge on a hard surface to
remove dust, dirt and debris.
NOTE:
Use of pressurized air or solvents will damage
air filter cartridge.
3. Carefully inspect air filter cartridge. Replace if any
damage is observed.
4. Inspect foam seal (
F
) in air cleaner cover for damage
or general deterioration. If installing
new
foam seal,
verify that ends do not overlap after installation.
5. Inspect foam spacer (
G
) inside air cleaner cover
for damage or general deterioration. If necessary,
remove and discard spacer, and then remove paper
backing on
new
spacer, and install with the adhesive
side in contact with the air cleaner cover.
6. Remove duckbill air valve (
H
) from air inlet port of air
cleaner cover. Wash duckbill air valve in warm, soapy
water. Inspect duckbill air valve for cuts, tears, holes,
or general deterioration.
7. Use a soft bristle brush and a portable hand vacuum
to remove all dust and dirt from air cleaner base
and air cleaner cover.
