15. Check sediment bowl O-ring and fuel filter screen for
cuts, tears, or general deterioration. Clean or replace
as necessary.
16. Check float bowl O-ring and gasket for cuts, tears, or
general deterioration. Replace as necessary.
Assembly
1. Install fuel filter screen (
L
) and O-ring (
K
) into fuel
shutoff valve. Install sediment bowl (
J
) and tighten to
20-25 lb-in
(2.3-2.8 N-m).
2. Install emulsion tube (
I
) into center passage in
carburetor body. Tighten securely using a small flat
blade screwdriver, but do not over-tighten.
3. Install float bowl O-ring (
H
) into groove in carburetor
body.
4. Install needle valve (
F
) and wireform clip (
G
) onto tab
on float hinge. Verify that loops on wireform clip face
hinge pin sleeve.
5. Place float (
E
) onto carburetor body and install hinge
pin (
D
) into pedestals. Verify that float is level.
NOTE:
Avoid turning carburetor sideways as the
hinge pin may slide out of pedestal holes.
6. Install hex screw (
A
) with gasket (
B
) to fasten float
bowl (
C
) to carburetor body. Tighten screw to
44-62
lb-in
(5-7 N-m).
7. Tighten float bowl drain screw (
M
) to
8-12 lb-in
(0.9-1.3 N-m).
Control Bracket/Governor Lever
NOTE:
Exercise care to avoid bending, kinking, or
stretching link and springs.
1. See Figure 123. Install hex flange screw (
A
) to fasten
governor idle spring bracket (
B
) to crankcase boss.
Tighten screw to
40-60 lb-in
(4.5-6.8 N-m).
NOTE:
Capture armature wire (to low oil sensor
module) and stator wires, if equipped, below governor
idle bracket, but be sure they are not pinched as
screw is tightened.
2. Install governor link (
C
) into grommet in governor
lever with the hooked end pointing down.
3. Install opposite end of governor link (
D
) into hole in
throttle lever with Z-bend end at the bottom.
4. Install governor link spring into hole next to grommet
(
E
) in governor lever with the hooked end pointing
down.
5. Install opposite end of governor link spring (
F
) into
hole in throttle lever with the hooked end pointing
down.
6. Install governor idle spring (
G
) into slot in governor
lever with the hooked end at the bottom.
7. Engage opposite end of governor idle spring in slots
of idle speed adjustment tang (
B
) with the hooked
end at the top.
8. Install square-head screw (
H
) onto governor lever (
I
)
and start Nyloc nut (
J
) with flat washer (
K
).
9. Install governor lever onto governor crank, but do not
tighten Nyloc nut at this time.
10. Start outside hex flange screw (
L
) to fasten control
bracket (and cylinder heat shield) to cylinder head.
11. Start inside hex flange screw (
M
) to fasten control
bracket to crankcase fuel tank flange.
12. Alternately tighten two hex flange screws to
80-110
lb-in
(9-12.4 N-m).
NOTE:
Use the internal T25 TORX recess for best
results.
13. Depress stop switch tab (
N
) on control bracket. Insert
stop wire into stop switch, bend wire end back, and
then release tab to secure. Place a small quantity
of Multipurpose Grease over stop switch terminal to
prevent corrosion.
14. Install hooked end of TransportGuard link (
O
) into
hole in throttle control lever and snap into connector
groove (
P
) on fuel shutoff cam.
15. Rotate governor lever to the Wide Open Throttle
position (left towards carburetor).
