Appendix IV: O-ring types and spares
As with all pressure vessels, good o-ring maintenance is critical to ensure no
water ingress.
How often to replace o-rings
We recommend annual replacement of o-rings that form seals of ROV parts
that are removed or opened – definitely the tether penetrator, and other
locations depending on whether you have used them.
Care and maintenance of o-rings
Keep o-rings clean and clear of dust and dirt. Smear a tiny amount of silicone
grease on your finger and run the replacement o-ring through your (clean)
fingers to lubricate it before insertion. Don’t use too much silicone grease – it
does not form part of the seal. Only use o-rings supplied by Boxfish. If in doubt,
please call us at Boxfish for assistance.
