Your ROV will be balanced for use before shipping, so it’s best to only practice
adding/removing ballast rings at this point.
A rough guide is to have 575g of ballast for sea water, and 300g for fresh water,
but if you have any accessory devices such as USBL or Sonar attached to your
ROV, you will need less. Each ballast ring is 12.5g.
Lubricate tether penetrator o-rings and collar o-ring
The tether penetrator (end of the tether cable) o-rings are used at every dive
and need regular lubrication to ensure they keep the ROV water-tight.
Before every dive, lubricate the two o-rings on the tether penetrator AND also
an o-ring contained inside the black collar on the tether penetrator.
To lubricate the o-ring inside the collar, unscrew the collar and take off the
tether penetrator protective cap. Squeeze a tiny amount of silicone grease onto
your fingers and apply it to the bottom of the collar, between the collar and the
metal body of the tether penetrator. Then, move the collar back and forward to
get the grease inside the collar to lubricate the o-ring inside.
