5.2.1
Checking the post
1.
Inspect the post (Abb. 33/Abb. 34, item 1) for visible
flaws and wear.
2.
Inspect the ruler (Abb. 33/Abb. 34, item 4) for visib-
le flaws and damage on the scale.
3.
Check that the spring in the post (Abb. 33/Abb. 34,
item 2) is functioning properly.

Measure in case of damage and faulty operation
¶
Remove slide from post, clean and reattach it if the
following damage is found on the post.

Replace the ruler.
¶
Replace the spring.

Slide on the post
1.
Check the slide on the post (Abb. 33/Abb. 34, item
3) for ease of movement.
2.
Check that the safety detent (3) is functioning pro-
perly.
3.
Clean the locking mechanism on the slide and check
for wear.
4.
Check that the spring in the safety detent is functio-
ning properly.
In case of damage, wear or faulty operation:

Replace the spring.
¶
Replace the slide.

Base plate
1.
Inspect the base plate for visible flaws and damage.
2.
Check the wheels for ease of movement.
Measure in case of damage or wear
¶
Replace the wheels.
¶
Replace the base plate.
