The CPU Card
This chapter provides a brief overview of the Access Easy Controller CPU card. The card lay-
out and functional descriptions of various circuits on the card are described in this chapter.
Some major components of the card are identified, and information concerning jumper option
is provided.
Introduction
The Access Easy Controller CPU card is 32-bit processor based single board computer (SBC)
with one or two 100Base-T Ethernet. There is a serial port (RS232) and one multi-mode paral-
lel (ECP/EPP/SPP) port for linking to the Secure/Communication Card, which provides the
security and the RS485 conversion.
It is designed to function as both an embedded Web server and an Access Control Controller.
Two communication ports are available on the CPU card. The first is an 100Base-T Ethernet
port that is used by the Web server for communication with the customer's monitoring and
database management computers. The Ethernet port terminates in an RJ-45 jack located on
the CPU card. Standard category 5 type cable is used to connect from the RJ-45 jack to a hub
or wall outlet on the customer's network. Alternatively, a cross-over cable can be used to con-
nect from the Ethernet jack on the CPU card directly to the Ethernet connector on the cus-
tomer's computer.
The second communication port is a RS-232 port. This port is used to connect to an external
modem to allow dial-up connection to the controller.
