GAN Signal Quality Threshold IT policy rule
Description
This rule specifies the signal quality threshold that a BlackBerry® device uses for handover from the WAN to the GAN.
Default value
The default value is a null value. A BlackBerry device chooses a suitable value. This value might be specified by the mobile network
provider.
Usage
In WAN-preferred mode, if the signal quality drops below the threshold, a BlackBerry device tries a handover to the GAN, if
possible. The signal quality is related to the bit error rate and is described in the 3GPP® 5.08 8.2.4 specification as follows:

0: good quality
•
7: worst quality

Description
This rule specifies the signal strength threshold that a BlackBerry® device can use to rove in from the WAN to the GAN.
Default value
The default value is a null value. A BlackBerry device chooses a suitable value. This value might be specified by the mobile network
provider.
Usage
In the WAN-preferred mode, if the signal strength of the serving cell drops below the value that you specify, a BlackBerry device
uses the GAN cell if one is available.
This value is specified in Received Signal Level units, as described in the 3GPP® 5.08 8.1.4 specification:

0: -111 dBm
•
63: -48 dBm
