7. Interpreting Cable Test Results
The PASS icon will be on if the cable has all pins
properly connected per T568A/B (see Figure 7-1).
Neither icon will be on if the cable is a crossover
(uplink) cable. The FAIL icon will be on if there is any
other condition. See Figures 7-1 through 7-5 for
examples of wiring errors.

RRORS
The four types of faults (listed in order of severity)
include opens, shorts, miswires, and split pairs. A more
severe error can mask lower severity errors. For
example, if there is a short in the cable, miswires and
split pairs may not be detected for the pairs involved in
the short fault.
