A pair with an

open

has an incomplete circuit, or the

cable is broken. See Figure 7-2.

If an open is detected while testing with a remote, the
FAIL icon will be on. The pin positions where the open
is detected will be missing from the second line of pin
numbers. While testing without a remote, these types of
errors are not detectable.
