6.2 PoCL Compatibility

PoCl is designed to be backward compatible with existing equipment. PoCL back-
wards compatibility is designed to provide previous existing functionality, however, it
should be obvious that power cannot be provided using non-PoCL equipment. Table
6-1 provides more information on compatibility.

Note: In the table above “Yes” means the combination will work and images will be
acquired. “No” means the combination will not work and no images will be acquired,
but no damage will occur to any of the equipment. Please see Section 6.3 for more
information.

In summary, the only way to use a PoCL camera is with a PoCL frame grabber and
PoCL cable. However, with non-PoCL cameras, any combination will work. Finally,
even if the particular combination does not work, nothing will be damaged should
the combination be plugged in.
