Performance advantage

The primary advantage of this configuration is that considerably less loading is placed on the network, since
only the process values that have altered are exchanged there: the OPC server checks the whole process
cyclically, but only passes the changes in the process on to the OPC client.

4.1.7.2

Network via TwinCAT ADS

The TwinCAT OPC server performs the communication with the TwinCAT components (PLC run-time
systems, bus terminal controllers etc.) via TwinCAT ADS. Since these services are also available in the
network, the TwinCAT OPC server can also communicate with TwinCAT components that exist in the
network.

You will find the settings needed for ADS communication over a network in the ADS Reference.
