5. There should be a space of 300 and 350
µ
m between the rear of the encoder disc
and the rear of the optical encoder head.
6. The adjustment target is to get a space of 325
µ
m. Use a spacer (e.g. made from
paper that are glued together) of that thickness to adjust the encoder head.
Warning:
clean the spacer tool before using it!
8. Slide the encoder disc towards the encoder head until 325
µ
m is reached.
9. Tighten the first fixing screw, near the encoder head, slightly.
10. The screws should be secured using loctite 222(243).
11. Take the position closest to the encoder head as a reference position to measure its
axial excentricity.
12. Place the dial test indicator with an accuracy of minimum 2
µ
m close to the
encoder head and adjust the dial indicator to zero. Ensure that the contact point of
the dial test indicator is not touching a surface of the encoder disc where the index
or encoder steps are located.
13. Remove the spacer tool and optical encoder head.
14. Turn the drum and align the encoder disc so that the axial eccentricity is within a
tolerance of 20
µ
m.
15. Place the dial test indicator radial on the encoder disc and measure the radial
eccentricity by turning the drum. The tolerance of this eccentricity should be
within 50
µ
m. When the eccentricity is larger than 50
µ
m adjust the position of
the encoder disc by adjusting the tension of the fixing screws of the encoder disc.
Make sure that the encoder disc is fixed to the encoder tube.
Remark:
Eccentricity correction
Because the Radail eccentricity is still present after the adjustment of the RSF-
encoder a software program must calculate the eccentricity and compensate it. The
‘LTL’ command ‘secor’ compensate the eccentricity. ‘Secor’ must be enabled in the
‘B-options’ to activate it.
