9.2.3 Valve connection
Designers of the wiring for connection of the valve controller to the shutoff valve must pay particular
attention to appropriate selection of cables so that the maximum permissible resistance allowed for
connection line is not exceeded (0.2 Ω for ball or flap valves and 0.5 Ω for poppet valve). Please keep in
mind that the total length of conductors is twice more than the cable length. The table below explains how
to select cross-section of cable cores and length of cables for valves of various types:

When a cable with the required cross-section is unavailable it is allowed to combine parallel sections of
multi-core cables provided that the totalized cross-section is not less than the required one. For instance,
30 m long section of the YDY 2x6.0 cable can be substituted with 30 meters of the YDY 4x4.0 cable where
each two cores of the cable shall be connected in parallel. However, use of such a cable need also
termination of cables at junction boxes to make necessary connections inside.
