Relay output

Description

R1

Failure

The relay is activated when any component of the gas detection system is defective.

R2

Warning

The  relay  is  set   to   the   active   mode   when   any  gas  detector  reports   exceeding  of   the   gas
concentration about the warning level.

Valve

For the design option designated as EcoAlpa P17 230V AC that relay output is
used to control a shutoff valve with the power supply voltage of 230V. The relay

produces   three   impulses   after   any   gas   detector   reports   increase   of   the   gas
concentration above the alarm level. The procedure for valve control is described
in Section 5.4

R3

Alarm

The  relay  is  set   to   the   active   mode   when   any  gas  detector  reports   exceeding  of   the   gas

concentration about the alarm level.

Table 4: Description of functions assigned to R1 - R3 outputs

5.3

Output for control of a light and sound warning device

The control unit can be provided with a dedicated output designed to control light and sound warning

devices (OC1 – a warning light, OC2 – an alarm siren). After the warning level for gas concentration is
exceeded, the control unit activates the output assigned to the warning light whilst exceeding of the alarm

threshold   triggers   generation   of   a   modulated   signal   at   the   output   assigned   to   the   alarm   siren   (see
parameters of outputs in Section 10).

5.4

Output for control of a gas shutoff valve

The output dedicated for connection of a shutoff valve suits to trip a valve actuator and is designed to

control one poppet, ball or flap valve (applies to the ZMZ module) – see parameters in Section 10. After
concentration   of   a   hazardous   gas   exceeds   the   tripping   threshold   the   supply  of   gas   (shutoff   of   a   gas

supplying valve) is carried out with a specific delay (ca. 2 seconds) to avoid undesired breaks in gas supplies
in case of short-time concentration peaks. Only if gas concentration keeps exceeding the permissible level

after that delay interval expires, the module produces three impulses to shut the valve off.

5.5

Output of the ZMZ module

The output is designed to connect an additional Remote Shutoff Module ZMZ (see Section 7).

5.6

Output of an external alarm

This output produces an external alarm signal to enable collaboration of the gas detection system with
other external systems of automatic control, e.g. fire protection, BMS. Upon the external output is activated

the sound and light warning device is activated, the gas supply valve is closed and relay outputs for warning
and alarm signals are closed. The activated status of the external alarm output is indicated on the front

panel of the control unit by means of a dedicated LED.
