2. Lightly bend out
the rear part of
the sprocket protector
and pull it straight
backwards.
3. Free the front part of the sprocket protector, pull it
forwards and remove it.
4. Prise up the connection
between the outer
and inner guard –
begin with the upper
one from behind and
continue with the lower
one. Separate the outer
and inner guard at
the crankset.
5. Lift away first the outer guard and then the inner guard.
6. Refit the chain
guard by
reversing this
process. Ensure
that all joins and
catches click into
place.
Chain tension
Important:
In order to function effectively, the chain must have
a certain tension/length. With use and wear, the chain
begins to stretch, so the tension of the chain must be
checked regularly.
1. Remove the chain guard (see
Chain guard
in
the
Settings and adjustments
section).
2. Place a ruler on the ground and lean it against
the centre of the chain, between the front sprocket and
the crankset. Pull the chain upwards and measure how
much the chain moves vertically.
-
If the distance is greater than 12 mm, the chain
tension must be increased.
-
If the distance is less than 6 mm, the chain tension
must be decreased.
3. Loosen the socket
head screw (5 mm)
and the nut (10 mm)
which holds the brake
stay in place on
the frame.
4. Loosen the right wheel
nut (15 mm).
• The bicycle is fitted with a full-coverage chain guard,
which not only protects clothing from contact with
the chain but also protects the chain, cogs and
sprockets from dirt and moisture.
• Certain settings and repairs and servicing will require
the removal of the chain guard.
1. Pull the red plug
straight out.
