Starting the engine (Prowler HDX)
1. Fasten the safety belt.
2. Close the side safety straps.
3. Move gear lever into park position.
4. Press the brake pedal.
5. Turn the ignition key to RUN position and release as soon as the engine is run-
ning. Do not accelerate while doing this.
6. Let the engine warm up.

Switching engine off
1. Turn ignition key to OFF position.

Shifting gears
1. Move gear lever to the desired drive position. The current drive position is shown
in the gauge display.
ATTENTION
Do not accelerate while the transmission is in park position. Otherwise, the
drive belt will be damaged.
ATTENTION
Always use drive position L (LOW) in the following situations:
– Driving on wet or uneven terrain
– Towing or pushing heavy loads
– Using a snow blade
– Towing a trailer
NOTE
The continuously variable transmission shifts depending on the engine
speed and the vehicle load.
NOTE
Select drive position H (HIGH) for normal driving with small load.
ATTENTION
Only change drive positions while the vehicle is stationary. Only change
drive positions on level terrain and with activated brake.
