Assembling/Installing
1. Install a new bearing into the input housing and
secure with the snap ring (flat side directed away
from bearing).

2. Using a suitable seal driver, install a new oil seal into
the front of the input housing until the seal flush with
the housing.

3. Apply grease to the lips of the oil seal; then install
the input shaft into the input bearing and housing.

4. Using a new gasket, install the assembled rear drive
input shaft/housing onto the rear drive gear case and
secure with the three cap screws. Tighten to 23 ft-lb.
INSTALLING
1. Slide the gear case into position down through the
upper-left side of the frame; then align the driveline
splines to the differential input coupler and engage
the driveshaft and differential.
2. Pack the driveline boot with the appropriate grease;
then secure with the boot clamps using CV Boot
Clamp Tool.
3. Secure the differential to the frame with two
through-bolts and secure with lock nuts and flat
washers. Tighten to 38 ft-lb.
4. Install the rear drive axles (see Drive Axles in this
section).
5. Install the brake caliper and tighten the mounting cap
screws to 20 ft-lb.
6. Fill the gear case with the appropriate lubricant.
Hub
REMOVING
1. Secure the vehicle on a support stand to elevate the
wheel; then remove the wheel.
NOTE: Removing or tightening of the hub nuts
requires the axles be locked. To lock the rear axle,
place the transmission in park. To lock the front
axle, turn the ignition switch to ON, and select
LOCK on the drive select switch; then place the
transmission in park and turn the ignition switch
to OFF.
2. Remove the cotter pin from the axle.
NOTE: During assembly, new cotter pins should
be installed.

3. Remove the hub nut securing the hub.
4. Remove the brake caliper (front only).

! WARNING
Make sure the vehicle is solidly supported on the
support stand to avoid injury.
