16.1
Start by punching out two each of the 1/8” plywood wing
spars, WS, and two each of the wing ribs, W-1, W-2, W-3, and
W-4. Making sure to build a right and a left slide the wing spars
into their respective place in the wing spars. Make sure that the
rib goes flush at the top and bottom surface of the wing rib.
Glue in place with CA.
16.2
Punch out the two lower wing sheeting, WS-1, from the
1/16” balsa sheet. Line the inboard rib, W-1, with the edge of
the lower sheeting. Leave some excess sheeting on the leading
and trailing edge to allow for sanding. Glue only the flat lower
surfaces of the wing ribs. The leading edge will be glued and
pressed in the next step.
16.3
Apply a small amount of CA+ to the lower leading edge
of each wing rib and press into place. Sand the trailing edge of
the sheeting to match the profile of the wing ribs. Sanding of
the leading edge may be left until completion of the upper sheet-
ing and sand at the same time.
16.4
Punch out the two wing upper sheeting, WS-2, from the
1/16” balsa sheet. Align the sheeting with the inboard edge of
W-1. Allow enough overlap to allow the trailing edge to be
sanded off flush with the lower sheeting. Apply CA+ to the
upper surfaces of the wing ribs and roll the sheeting into place.
Sand the upper sheeting trailing edge flush with the lower sur-
face. Sand the leading edge flush with the wing ribs.
16.5
Cut two lengths of 3/4” triangle stock 6.5 inches in
length. Using CA+ glue the leading edge pieces to the front of
the wings. Sand the leading edge to a rounded shape.
