Port locking
Using Port Locking, an individual port can be locked exclusively or reserved for later use to
prevent others from changing any of the port properties.
Before locking a port, the switch must first be configured to enable port locking. Refer to the
W
EB
XR User Manual
for details.
When a port is locked, other users
cannot
:
• disconnect the port or a connection using that port,
• use the port as part of a new connection,
• change the Port Name or port rate,
• apply or remove any ingress or egress filter currently applied,
or
• adjust bandwidth thresholds, enable or disable RX monitoring, or perform the port-
flapping diagnostic test.
However, other users can still view all port properties and can clear Port Statistics.
Depending on how port locking is configured, it is possible to lock a port indefinitely, or lock
the port for a time up to the limit specified by a switch administrator. An Administrator may
also set connections to disconnect when port locks expire.
♦
To lock a port:
1. Go to W
EB
XR and click the soft arrow for the Global View icon. From the pop-up menu,
select Ports.
2. On the Ports page, select a port and click the soft arrow.
3. From the pop-up menu, select Port Properties.
CAUTION
Changes cannot be made to a port when the port is locked. The port must first be
unlocked before making any changes to it.
