Port name
Ports can be named all at the same time, or individually, one at a time. Port Names are
displayed on other pages for easy identification.
Permissions
. The user must have permissions enabled to
View Port Names
and
Edit Port
Names
to change Port Names.

To add or change Port Names for individual ports:
1. Go to W
EB
XR and click the soft arrow for the Global View icon and select Ports.
2. On the Ports page, select a port and click the soft arrow to display the pop-up menu and
select Port Properties.
3. In the box for Port Name, type a name for the port.
• The maximum length for a Port Name is 255 alphanumeric characters.
• The Port Name can include letters, numbers, and most keyboard characters.
• The following Port Names are not allowed:
ports, user, raw, names.
4. (Optional) Select another individual port and enter a Port Name.
5. When finished, click
Save
.
6. Go to the W
EB
XR Ports page to view Port Names.

To modify or clear Port Names for an individual port:
1. Go to W
EB
XR and click the soft arrow for the Global View icon and select Ports.
2. On the Ports page, select a port and click the soft arrow to display the pop-up menu and
select Port Properties.
3. In the box for Port Name, select the contents of the Port Name field and delete or change
the text.
4. Click
Save
.
Paired ports
By default the Network and Appliance ports in each segment are paired with the adjacent
port. If the heartbeat pulse is not detected by either of the Network ports the connection goes
into Bypass mode causing the network traffic to be redirected back onto the user network
(refer to
Port pairing is denoted graphically with a dark-blue outline around the paired ports, as shown
in the following image.
NOTE
Because long Port Names are truncated on the port itself, hover the mouse
over the port for more details.
